Finally! Yes, finally we are to this point in the year when you will be making your models. In class Monday, students will first choose which type of cell they want to make. Then students will draw a picture with of all the required parts are labeled with both the correct name and what type of candy they will use to model it with.
All models will be due Friday (20). After the models have been graded, students will be responsible for "disposing" of them properly.
If you have any questions, post them here on the blog. For sample ideas, visit past students projects.
Remember the criteria for what your model MUST have.

Trip to the Wetlands
According to Weather Underground , it is suppose to be partly cloudy on Tuesday. Bring an extra pair of shoes so that you do not get your school shoes all muddy. Hopefully it will dry off the day before. :)
If when Tuesday rolls around and it is threatening to rain, we might have to cancel and reschedule for another day.
Cross your fingers!

Science Expo at Willamette University
The turn out for the 3rd Annual Science Expo was great! There were six roller coasters from our class. It was easy to entice the visitors to try each one. Children were fascinated by them. Parents and teachers were in awe that sixth grade students made these awesome contraptions. ( I'm not surprised because my students are smart!!)
Create Your Own Video About Science!
1. Either work on your own or with a group of friends from your class or any other class.
2. Choose a science topic or school public announcement ("How to open your locker") that you would like to make a short two minute video.
3. Using a story board paper, draw a picture for each cell. Then write a script for each cell BEFORE you start making your video. (See below)
4.Use Voice Thread, You Tube, Yodio or some other venue to create your video. The following link will take you to a quick video at Voice Thread. Follow the following steps.
5. Watch your video a couple times to look for errors and then submit the final product.
6. Have fun!!

Spring Break!
Woohoo! We made it!!
When we get back, it will be time for all teams to demonstrate their incredible designs. I am so proud of what everyone built.
After demonstrations are completed, students will begin the write up phase. This will take about two to three weeks for us to complete. I have work days scheduled for after school on both Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, just like before. Laptops will be available for students to use. Make sure to bring a thumb or flash drive with you.
Get well rested. We still have three months to go before summer.
